Located in southern Utah near the city of Springdale, not far from Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, or St. George, Zion National Park sits at about 4,000 feet in elevation and climbs up to 6,500 feet. This National Park is a long, deep canyon cutting through steep sandstone cliffs. Different layers of sandstone like Navajo sandstone, offer varying pastel colors of rock.
Fun Fact: The first Anglo-European settlers, Mormon pioneers, arrived in the area in the late 1800s. They named the area Zion, which is ancient Hebrew for sanctuary or refuge.
Find world-class hiking trails in Zion. Hike through streams or on sandstone ledges, like Angels Landing – one of the scariest hikes in the world! Nearby Zion, in St. George, Utah, you’ll find many golf courses, mountain biking trails, climbing and more. If you or a friend has a boat, go wakeboarding or cliff jumping at one of the nearby reservoirs.
The park has two visitor centers that are also open throughout the year. Visitors are encouraged to stop and learn how to visit the park with minimum impact on the fragile desert environment. At the visitor centers, you will find maps, brochures, and books available to help you enjoy your visit.
Only a 2.5 hour trip from Las Vegas, we will take you through the Arizona Strip, which provides a view just as impressive as the floor of the Grand Canyon.
We will take you on an incredible journey that will not only show you the majestic beauty that Zion has to offer but the fascinating history behind it. View the stunning scenery, the spectacular network of colorful canyons, forested mesas, fascinating deserts, sandstone cliffs that are among the highest in the world, diverse plant and animal communities, and Ancestral Puebloan, Paiute and Mormon pioneer history. This park has a stunning beauty which has often been compared to paradise or Yosemite of Southwest.
